Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA) is a systemic autoimmune condition predominantly affecting patients aged over 50 years. This condition must be identified and managed urgently due to its potential to cause life- and sight-threatening consequences. While optometrists are trained to look for a hallmark presentation of GCA, it is imperative to identify cases of GCA that may present alternatively. This course explores a case of GCA in an 86-year-old Caucasian female presenting with 6th Nerve Palsy without AION, and provides an overview of the clinical presentation, the importance of identifying alternate signs and symptoms, and management of GCA.
