Macular Telangiectasia Type 2: Case Report and Clinical Review
Course Authored By: Andrew Mangum, OD
Course Description
Macular telangiectasia (MacTel) type 2 is an idiopathic neurodegenerative disease that presents bilaterally with changes to the macular capillary network. Through newer imaging modalities, the condition can be detected and differentiated from other conditions, allowing for earlier diagnosis and management. This course explores a case of MacTel type 2 in a 75-year-old Caucasian male presenting with gradual deterioration of vision, and provides an overview of the clinical presentation, differential diagnoses, imaging techniques used in diagnosis, and management for MacTel type 2.
