Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

CROJournal.com is an online resource that provides optometrists with the opportunity to earn continuing education credits from articles published in Clinical & Refractive Optometry Journal (CRO Online) and other continuing education content sources. Use of this site is acceptance of these Terms of Service. 

Course content may be accessed through this site, third party sites and/or may also be viewed independently through CRO (Clinical & Refractive Optometry), a digital publication associated with this site.  Course content may also viewable directly from within this website. You will be able to view course contents before deciding to take the post-course test for credit.  

In order to take a course examination and attain an accreditation certificate, users are required to register on this site. (see Privacy Policy below)

Please note that courses have expiry dates which are published on this site.  While we make efforts to either renew the course approval with the accrediting body (e.g. COPE) in order to extend the course expiry date, remove the course and/or otherwise display the course expiry date, it is your responsibility to determine the validity of the course for approval with your regulatory authority. We provide COPE course id numbers and COPE course event numbers in order to assist you. COPE course information can be found at https://www.arbo.org/course_search.php.

This application issues a Continuing Education certificate only after grading and passing a post-course test. This site uses the passing grade provides by COPE i.e. 70%. Individual licensing boards may require a different passing grade and site users are advised to check with their specific state/province licensing board in this regard. The test is created in accordance with the Exam Writers Manual®, published by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry ® examination at the noted pass requirement level. All post-course tests are independently reviewed by a bona fide Optometry School as defined by COPE guidelines.

Most courses require online payment to access the post-course test.  Once the course is purchased you will have three opportunities to achieve the passing grade. After the third attempt, you will need to repurchase the exam before trying again.

In some cases, courses are provided on a complimentary basis via an unrestricted grant by third parties. In such instances there is no cost to the course taker. In such instances, the third-party grantor to the course will be clearly identified. Such courses, however, are subject to the same post-course test and certificate generation as indicated above.  

In order to purchase a course, you will need to provide payment information. This information is handled by a trusted third-party payment provider (i.e. PayPal). We do not store, either temporarily or permanently, any of credit card details on our site or servers.  We may, however, store other information, including but not limited to your country, province/state, license#, name, email address, login credentials and course information, including course test results, in order to improve your user experience on this site.  We may, from time to time, communicate with you about features of our site, new course offerings, and/or specific information from course grantors.

Use of this site grants us the permission to contact you in this regard. You will be able to unsubscribe to these email notifications at any time by deleting your account. Update of subscriber status may take up to 10 work-days.  Please note that deleting your account will also permanently delete the record of your courses enrolled and the CE Certificates that are stored on our servers.  

If you do unsubscribe, we may still require to occasionally send an email relating to site use and maintenance, e.g. password maintenance, confirmation of account information changes and/or receipts generated when you make a purchase.  You may delete your account entirely from the site at any time. In such instances all functionality of the site will be lost, including course records and any certificates that would have otherwise been available to the user. 

Privacy Policy

Registration enables you to access post-course tests.  When you register, an account is created for you on our server. You may access your account and any information we have stored about you in your dashboard. Information on specific registrants is held in strict confidence and is not shared with any third parties.

We will never share your email, name or personally identifiable information or exam results with any person or organization without your express permission except and unless when formally requested by any State's or Province's Board/College of Optometry and except as indicated above in the TERMS OF SERVICE. In such cases we will provide the information needed to verify your participation details and examination results.
